A Practical, People-First Framework

Change for Good Method

Where the Guiding Star orients, the Method acts.

Change for Good Method

A flexible and adaptive people-first approach to regenerative change, within and across systems.

← Back to A Regenerative Way

Practical without being rigid, systemic without being overwhelming, and deeply human at its core — this is what putting the Guiding Star into action actually looks like. It comes from lived experience, working inside complex systems, with people at the centre of every stage. For those here to reimagine cultures, systems and futures where people, and the planet, can thrive, together.

Before the Method — The Pre-Work

Focus

What we focus on becomes our reality

Sometimes the focus is clear from the outset. Other times there is only a glimmer — an issue, an idea, a challenge calling to be explored. We honour that call without needing to control it. Through honest, courageous conversations and deep listening, the true focus comes into view — before the five stages of the Method begin.

Step 1

People First

Understanding people

Explore and capture the collective wisdom within and around the system. Sustainable change starts and ends with people.

  • Seek to understand the lived experience from all perspectives with curiosity, courage and care
  • Create conditions where people feel seen, heard, valued and safe to contribute
  • Honour both difference and shared humanity
Step 2

Reality Check

Understanding the current state

Step back for a bird’s eye view of what’s really going on. Clarify scope of influence and map patterns.

  • Celebrate current strengths and pockets of thriving
  • Name gaps with care and honesty
  • Surface friction within and between systems

Where the Guiding Star deepens this stage: where are we, honestly, against all six Universals — including their shadow faces?

Step 3

Dream Big

Co-create a vision worth carrying

Co-create a collective vision rooted in values and purpose. Define success in cultural, human and systemic terms.

  • Agree on regenerative principles to guide the journey ahead
  • Tune into emerging patterns that signal where the future is already unfolding

Where the Guiding Star deepens this stage: what would it look, feel and be like if all six Universals were genuinely alive here?

Step 4

Plan the Pathway

Turn the vision into a roadmap that’s real

Purge what no longer serves to clear the path. Co-design clear next steps.

  • Break action into bite-sized pieces to build traction
  • Share the load through distributed ownership and participation
Step 5

Progress Over Perfection

Implement, evolve and celebrate the journey

Create space to reflect, integrate and adapt. Acknowledge and celebrate wins — big and small.

  • Build in feedback loops and rituals
  • Embed regenerative learning, not one-off change events
  • Focus on evolution, not execution

One direction, many ways
